Houdini Baby

Jeremiah has always had a knack for getting out things while sleeping. When we still swaddled him I would find him with an arm or leg out most morning. While in the sleep sack he would get a foot of a hole for a car seat clasp. How he did it, I don't know.
This week he went cold turkey from the sleep sack! He's been doing great. I thought we were done with the escape act, since he wasn't in the sleep sack any more. I was wrong! Now he's trying to get out of his clothes while sleeping! This is how I found him yesterday morning.
He got his arm out of the sleeve and then out of the neck! Can you say Houdini baby?

Four Toothers

Jeremiah officially has all four of his front teeth! The top two came in last week. Teething wasn't as easy as it was with the bottom two, but we all survived!
See his top teeth???

Not a great picture of him, but you can see all of his teeth

Birthday Suit

Only fitting for a little boy to celebrate his eight month birthday by playing in his birthday suit!
This is his new "smile for the camera" face

I love those big eyes!

Cloth Diapers

I've always been intrigued by cloth diapers but thought it would be too gross and too hard. That I would have to put my hand in the toilet to get the poop off, I would have to do more laundry, and that I would have to change Jeremiah more often.
Once Matt and I made the decision for me to stay home we started looking for areas where we could cut back. I started seriously looking into cloth diapers. I know several moms who LOVE using cloth. After talking to them and research, I took the plunge! I order a small package of MotherEase diapers.

Today was the first day I got to try them out. Took a little while to get them figured out, but I've been really pleased! They haven't leaked at all and I haven't needed to change Jeremiah more then usual. Changing a poopy diaper was interesting. Did end up rinsing it off some in the toilet, well not me, Matt did. What a great husband and dad! I think there is a lot of trial and error in starting off with cloth diapers. So far it's going really well and I'm planning on getting more!

I think he likes it!

Way cuter than disposables!

New bath toy

Jeremiah is too big for his infant tub. We didn't know what to do since we felt like he's still too small for the tub. My mom found this tub seat. Last night was the first time we tried it out. Jeremiah LOVED it! It gave him a lot more independence but kept him secure.

Bath time is Jeremiah's favorite time of the day!

Six Months!

Yesterday Jeremiah had his six month appointment. He weighs 17lbs 6oz and is 26 3/4 in. His head is 44 cm. He's right around the 5oth percentile in everything. Eric, our Doctor said Jeremiah looks great!
Jeremiah loves the nurses! He just smiles and talks to them. He wasn't a big fan of Eric. For the first time, he screamed when Eric was checking him. Guess Jeremiah is be coming aware of new people.
He was pitiful when he got the shots! One was oral the other 4 were in his legs. The oral one wasn't a big deal at all. He kept going "Mmmm" as he was taking it. When it was time for the ones in his legs, I was holding his hand on his tummy. As soon they started giving him the shot, his little face turned bright red, big tears rolled down his cheeks, and he screamed the rest of the time. Poor baby! Thankfully once I picked him up he started to calm down.
The rest of the day got a little interesting. My mom is here and has been dealing with allergies the whole time. Yesterday she started feeling pretty bad. She went to minute clinic and found out she has bronchitis! They perscribedsome good drugs and she's feeling much better now!
The past few weeks it seems like Jeremiah is doing something new just about every day. He roles from his tummy to his back with no problem, sits up for long periods of time, jabbers ALL the time. He's becoming such a big boy!

Road Trip!

This past weekend we went on a road trip to Jackson. This was the first trip we've been on since Jeremiah was born. I was completely overwhelmed with trying to pack for him and very anxious about how he would do in the car for that long. He did amazingly well in the car and the whole trip!

Trying to get a picture of the Alabama state sign. Hard to do when going 70!

Jeremiah did awesome! He just slept and played most of the trip. We stopped just past Birmingham. We nursed in the car, harder than you might think! Went into Subway for him to have some solids. He loved being able to go have a break from the car. He's such a little people watcher! Took a little while for him to eat because he was so distracted by all the people.

We made it! Jeremiah slept the rest of the trip! He did such good job.

Jeremiah loves Jodi! He just smiles and flirts with her.

Greg with Jeremiah. We hadn't seen Greg since our wedding over two years ago!

Same is true for Richard.

This is the group of people I spent most of my time with in college! I loved having a weekend to catch up with them.

Best friends!

It was a little strange having Jeremiah at our alma mater.

Don't worry, it was empty. :-) He loved playing with it though!

Kaitlyn: Update

Here is all the information on Kaitlyn... Her name is Kaitlyn Elliott. She weight 7lbs 2oz and was 19 3/4inches. Shannon was in labor for 5 hours. Once Kaitlyn decided it was time, she came pretty fast! Congrats again Chris and Shannon!

My sister-in-law, Shannon finally had their little girl! Kaitlyn was born at 3am (LA time)! Matt and I got the call a few minutes ago. Shannon and Kaitlyn are doing wonderfully! Brenda said Kaitlyn was already nursing! What a good girl.

I'm so proud of Shannon! She was 4 days past her due date and did it all natural. I don't have the details of weight and all that yet.

Congratulations Shannon and Chris! Can't wait to meet your little girl!

No more swaddling

Jeremiah has always been a snuggler. Didn't matter if it was in your arms or wrapped as tight as I could get him in his Miracle Blanket. The best was super tight in his blanket while being held.

About a month ago I started wondering what I was going to do when he was too big for the Miracle blanket. I started trying to put him down with out swaddling him. Then started freaking out about what I was going to do since he would not sleep if he wasn't swaddled. I tried to slowly ween him. Leaving one arm out, putting the blanket on loos. No good. Would maybe fall a sleep for 15 minutes and the scream his little head off till he was swaddled. I decided it was more important for him to be sleeping well than not being swaddled. Maybe I was just putting it off, but I like to think it was only out of a desire to do what's best for him. :-)

Last week Jeremiah started figuring out how to get his arms out of the blanket. No idea how he did it with out dislocating his shoulder! He would wake up furious! The first night Matt and I rushed into the nursery to find Jeremiah screaming and throwing his arms all over the place. A few nights of this and I know it was time to do something. A momma's gotta have her sleep too!

My mom had gotten us two sleep sacks. I tried it during nap time, he slept just as well and long as when he was swaddled! I couldn't believe it! I put him down the same night in the sleep sack. I expected another wake up call at 3 in the morning but it never came!

So he sleeps half way unswaddled. One of the sleep sacks is really big, so I don't have to worry about weening him all the way for a while. :-)

5 Months

Yesterday Jeremiah turned 5 months old! He's getting so big! Our pediatrician told us to hold of solids until Jeremiah was 5 months old. So he got to try rice cereal for the first time! He did a pretty good job eating it. Hard to tell how much he really ate, ended up with a lot on himself. It was fun though.

Sorry the pictures are out of order and all over the place.

For Da...

Mail Call

Jeremiah got his first package in the mail. It wasn't a card or anything. It was a package! Those of you who knew me in college know what I'm talking about. I would come down from the mail room and have a HUGE box stuffed with goodies from my mom. Today Jeremiah to experience a package from Kansas.
He loved watching my dump out the box and trying to grab everything!

The package wasn't just from Grandma, Aunt Shannie sent TDY presents from while she was in Perth! It looks like he's thinking, "Perth is where???" Shannie sent the shirt for Jeremiah, a really fun book, and some fancy homemade soap. Thanks, Shannie!

HE loved playing with the box! A taste of Christmas, I think.
